Ffenics

Ffenics is an information management system aimed at users with business experience and familiarity with typical computer tasks, such as word processing or using spreadsheets.

Ffenics is deliberately designed to be easy to install and easy to maintain for those with no technical training. It is easy to learn how to use, and many complex applications can be created purely through the drag-and-drop, interactive graphical interface with no need for specialist programming or scripting skills.

Applications created with Ffenics can be used on your network or be placed on the web, you could even use it in both ways! Underlying the user-friendly interface is a powerful database engine which is able to cope with a large amount of users and vast amounts of data.

The database uses 'distributed processing technology', resulting in lower performance decline within larger systems, meaning that there is no need for costly specialised servers or storage hardware. This makes Ffenics an ideal investment for small businesses regardless of growth potential.

If you do plan to expand your business, however, Ffenics can grow alongside you! Any applications that you create can be continually developed whilst the system is in action.

Ffenics will easily integrate with your organisation's existing systems, should a Ffenics application that is initially a small development turn out to be extremely important!

RunTime

In order to run a Ffenics application, you must install the program on each workstation. This is a database processor, which is also the host for the Ffenics interactive user-interface.

Normally, we encourage distribution of Ffenics applications within an organisation using a copy of Ffenics for each user. This will enable each user to employ the full range of the product's features for their own purposes. Applications are controlled by means of the user login, custom menus and toolbars, the security permissions, so an application can have customized access for different users.

We understand that in many situations existing policies will prevent this liberated approach, so for those choose to distribute completely closed applications, we provide Ffenics RunTime.

Ffenics RunTime (Ffixrun) allows only pre-defined applications to be run. All of Ffenics' functions feature in RunTime, but can only be used if the application developer has chosen to incorporate them into the application for distribution.

Web distribution is handled differently, as the only requirement for the user's workstation is a browser, and for security reasons we do not download any processing elements to the browser machine. See Ffenics WebElements for details. You can freely mix full copies of Ffenics, copies of RunTime, and Ffenics WebElements sessions all using the same application.

Ffenics WebElements

Ffenics WebElements automates the process of making Ffenics applications available to everyone via a web browser.

A developer can create web versions of Ffenics forms, aspects and reports without writing a single line of code, simply by making choices and clicking buttons.

Using your normal web browser, with no additional software, you can view, enter, modify and delete data in these forms subject to the security permissions you select. You can also run reports, upload and download files, and enter your own search criteria to locate specific data.
